Superhero Lollipops

My twin daughter’s birthday was coming up and the only party theme they both could agree on was a Superhero Party.  I wasn’t doing a big party for them, but they were insistent, they were having a party. I didn’t really mind, it gave me the opportunity to make a smashing dessert table for their party.  I came across these several Superhero Lollipops on Pinterest and I had to give them a try for the dessert table.

Supplies you will need:

  • Lollipops
  • Tissue Paper
  • Card stock
  • Tape
  • Paper hole punch
  • Black Sharpie
  • Scissors

Step One: Prepping the Lollipops

Tape the top of the lollipop wrapper to the lollipop. I found that if I did not do this that the top of the wrapper would poke a whole through the tissue paper in the next step.

Step two: Wrapping the Lollipop

Cut the tissue paper into squares, the size will very depending on the Lollipop you choose to use. Then, wrap the square tissue paper around the lollipop and use tape to secure the tissue paper to the lollipop stem.

Step Three: Making the Superhero cape.

Cut card stock in the shape of a triangle. Once, again the size of the cape is solely up to you.  I made mine about 2″ long. I added subtle scallop cuts to the end of the cape to make it look more realistic.

When you have the triangles cut out, use a hole punch to make a circle in the top of the cape for adding the lollipop.  I did find that I need to add a few hole to get the lollipop to set at the base of the lollipop.

Step Four: Making Masks.

I cut out little masks from rectangular pieces of card stock.  I trimmed each corner of the rectangle.  Finally, I used the whole punch in the middle of the rectangle on the top and the bottom to make semi-circles to create the mask.

The mask needed eye slots so I used a back sharpie to make little ovals on the masks.

Step Five: Assembling the Superhero Lollipops

Start by added the mask with glue to the middle of the lollipops.  Now, simply slip the lollipop sticks through the capes and slide them up to the bottom of the Lollipops.

The finished Superhero Lollipops!

These Superhero Lollipops were a smashing hit at the party!
