St. Patrick’s Day Family Traditions

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!  Hope all of you are participating in all the fun activities that come along with this fun Holiday.  Who doesn’t love the idea of a Leprechaun, Gold and the end of rainbows, shamrocks, wearing green so you don’t get pinched and the traditional corn beef and cabbage dinner.  I know I can’t wait to get the day started.

We are a family that loves Family Traditions! Here are a few that I would love to share with you.

We spend the month before St. Patrick’s Day arrives planning out how we will make our  Leprechaun Trap!

Leprechaun-trap 33

We start the day with a visit from the leprechaun.  The girls make a leprechaun trap in hopes to catch the pesky Leprechaun before he messes up the house. We haven’t caught one yet so we always have a mess to clean up.  Click here to see what that Leprechaun has done to our home in the past, Leprechaun Visit.

We all wear green.  Outfits are planned out in advance.  The girls even have to have hair pieces and matching jewelry.

We start the stove early in the morning and slow cook the corn beef all day.  The potatoes, carrots and cabbage is added shortly before we eat! Soda bread is always on the table.

And, Yes we have Green Beer.  The girls even join in the festivities, drinking green apple cider.

We turn the TV to the Sounds of the Seasons and the Irish Jigs play in the back ground as we enjoy our evening.  Sounds of the seasons even gives fun facts about the holiday and Ireland too.

I hope that you and your family have a few fun traditions too.

From my Family to Yours…Have a wonderful St. Patrick’s Day!
