Pencil Valentines are a great alternative to the traditional Valentine’s with candy. My girls always like to give candy along with their Valentine’s to their classmates. So, last year I challenged my daughter to come up with one that didn’t have candy, she decided on pencils. Then, I asked her to come up with a cute way to attach her name to them, so she decided to attach a piece of card stock to look like a flag.
What you will need:
- Card stock
- Glue Stick
The first thing we did was come up with a few clever sayings and print them out! (Don’t forget to add a from and your child’s name before printing the saying.) We couldn’t decide on one so we used three different sayings.
- Write on Valentine!
- You’re The WRITE Friend For Me!
- Our Friendship Is Just Write!
When creating these sayings, I added hearts to replace the dot on the I in Valentine and for the dot in the exclamation mark, just to add a little character.
We then cut out our sayings into 1″ x 3″ rectangles.
Next, we cut out pink card stock about 2″ x 4″ for our flag.
Once, we had the flag cut out we punched two holes in one side about 1″ apart.
Then, we took our pencil and weaved it through the holes and glued our saying in the middle of the flag.
My daughter had so much fun creating and making these Pencil Valentine’s.
Here’s a picture of our flags finished and ready to hand out in Tiffany’s classroom.
The Valentine’s were a big hit with her classmates!
